Combat at a Glance
Each dot is a character on the BattleMap. Green is you, red is trouble. Distance just changes the flavor of the same fast face-off: draw cards, compare totals, describe the hit.
When dots are far apart, treat it like ranged combat: cover, tricks, spells, and weapons that make sense at distance. It still resolves with a BattleSauce face-off—just describe the shots and scenery.
When dots are almost touching, you’re in close-quarters: grapples, blades, Evo bursts, point-blank chaos. The math is the same; the story zooms in to sweat, sparks, and broken furniture.
When it’s you vs many, treat the crowd as a Monster Horde: one fast face-off, but the fiction leans into swarms, flanking, and retreat paths. Win big, and you carve a way out. Lose, and the wall remembers your name.
